She didn’t start with drawings or big plans. Instead, she spent almost 10 years listening to homeowners, builders, and investors in Zanzibar and beyond. Gina helped people buy beautiful homes. But over and over, they asked her the same thing:
“Where can I get good furniture that fits, looks nice, and comes on time?”
That’s when Gina had an idea. DALABER was her answer.
Now, Gina leads a trusted team of makers—carpenters, designers, and artists. Everyone works together to build furniture that’s beautiful, strong, and full of heart. Gina makes sure every part of the job runs smoothly—from planning to delivery.

Johnny is our dedicated Cleaner, ensuring every workspace and project site is immaculate and welcoming. With one year of industry experience—and several months alongside our team—he expertly blends tireless energy with patient precision, stepping in to support upholstery and carpentry tasks whenever needed. Armed with strength, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to order, Johnny transforms blank canvases into spotless environments. He takes particular pride in our recent “from-scratch” house-furnishing projects, where he not only organized and arranged every piece but also assisted in delivery alongside Rashid—turning clients’ dreams into reality. Johnny excels at systematic organization, quietly driving progress by anticipating needs and tackling the next task without pause. Beyond his rigorous work ethic, his greatest ambition is to build a secure, joyful future for his daughter, ensuring she has every opportunity to thrive.
Rashid is our reliable driver and all-around helper—always first to lend a hand wherever it’s needed. Over the past year, he’s safely transported our staff each morning and evening, hauled upholstery and carpentry supplies, and even delivered finished pieces to clients with a steady smile and calm confidence. He began his career mastering forklift operations in Dar es Salaam before joining us in Zanzibar, and today his passion for forklifting makes him the go-to person whenever heavy lifting is on the agenda. Rashid shines in versatility—whether behind the wheel, wielding a paintbrush, or jumping in to support a teammate, he gets the job done. His proudest recent achievement was helping furnish two entire homes from scratch: from factory floor to front doorstep, he was there every step of the way. Now he’s working toward getting his official forklift license—and dreaming of adding more vehicle classes to his toolkit—so he can tackle any transport challenge. Always ready with a helping hand, Rashid’s genuine care for others makes him unforgettable on and off the job.
Nadim is our warm-hearted master carpenter whose three decades of dedication turn simple timber into timeless treasures. Born into a Pakistani family of woodworkers, he spent his youth learning the family craft back home before sharpening his skills for six years in Dubai and, most recently, joining us here in Zanzibar six months ago. Each day, he personally sources and selects the finest wood, measures and cuts every board with precision, sands each surface to silky smoothness, and hand-applies finishes—whether glossy or matte—to let the natural grain tell its story. He built the sleek cabinets that define our workshop and even designed a charming hanging rack for his tools, a playful testament to his creative spirit. Nadim’s quiet leadership and unwavering integrity make him a pillar of our team—colleagues trust his judgment, admire his humility, and cheer when he shares a laugh. His hands-on expertise extends beyond routine work: he continually experiments with new paint techniques and design details, always seeking to elevate the ordinary into something extraordinary.
